Taliyah Sweeting swings at a pinata at her eighth birthday party in Vacaville, Calif. Sweeting was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer called embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma on April 8, 2014. Following nearly a year of treatment, doctors have declared Sweeting cancer-free. Friends and family threw a party for Sweeting to celebrate her birthday and her health. Sweeting’s friends and family have dubbed her the "Warrior Princess."

They weren’t on the same page when it came to the color: Maryrose Sweeting was looking forward to growing her brunette hair out again, while Taliyah dreamed of having pink or blue locks.

Sweeting wears "magic fairy dust," a present she received from Tinker Bell. A local business sent the fairy tale character to Sweeting’s home to provide encouragement during her treatment.
