Glen Stewart smokes a morning cigarette inside his living room in Clinton, Mo. Stewart, 43, lost his right eye after a friend got drunk and smashed a piece of firewood through his car window. Over the summer, Stewart's glass eye fell out while riding a roller coaster in Kansas City. Stewart's vision has been impaired since the accident but he is scheduled to get a new glass eye in November. Until then, Stewart uses a porcelain eye.
Stewart speaks with Kathy Robinson, his roommate, before running errands outside his house. Stewart lives in the same house he grew up in. He inherited the five-acre plot and uses the land to grow tomatoes, chop wood and fix his three cars. Stewart said the land was filled with high brush until he recently removed it himself.
Robinson hands Stewart baloney slices for his sandwich inside his kitchen. Stewart invited Robinson to live in his house after she was laid-off from a factory job in Springfield, Mo. In return, Robinson helps pay for Stewart's groceries. "I help people out and I've been blessed," Stewart said. "But I've struggled too. I've eaten my share of Ramen."
Stewart drives his truck with, Daniel Chiles, his roommate's son-in-law, and Chiles' dog Jake after working on a sidewall. Stewart works a variety of odd jobs throughout the Clinton area to help make ends-meet.

Stewart removes a thorn from his foot after feeding cattle barefoot at Don Bruns' ranch. As to working on the ranch barefoot, "it just feels more comfortable," Stewart said before he stepped on a thorn.
Stewart pets his pot-bellied pig, Piglet, as his dog, Slick, waits while going on a walk near his house. Every time Stewart walks Piglet, they go down 6th Street and follow a specific route. Stewart is allowed to own pigs in Clinton because his home is grandfathered-in. "Its not so much I like pigs," Stewart said. "Its more I got a good deal on it."
Stewart and Morley react after learning a truck Stewart was interested in checking out was not at the used-car lot in Sedalia, Mo. They drove for nearly an hour to check out the truck, but it turned out the truck not there.
Stewart smokes a cigarette after stopping at a bakery on the return trip from Sedalia, Mo., to Clinton. "You get sucked up in things and lose yourself," Stewart said.
Stewart's dog, Tippy, sits in the floor by the front see next to a pack of cigarettes inside Stewart's car. Stewart smokes two-and-a-half packs of cigarettes a day.
Stewart relaxes on his couch while Morley, left, works on the computer after working all day. "Somewhere along the way I slowed down," Stewart said. "I can't do it like I used to."
